Fraudulent Schemes During COVID-19

Whilst the current difficult times are seeing many businesses come together to help support and lift one another, there are unfortunately some who have taken these unprecedented times as a green light to begin pushing their fraudulent schemes.

These sources can seem very convincing and there have been cases of individuals being contacted by people posing as a bank, the council and the HMRC.

With one example being, that criminals have been pretending to be the local authority calling to request information around rates holidays and grants. They then go on to ask for bank details.

It is important to remember that your bank, the council nor HMRC would be requesting for you to transfer funds or asking for your bank details to transfer funds via an email.
