Exeter based Chartered Accountant Adrian Hills of Kirk Hills

Adrian was brought up in Oxford and trained there with a national firm of Chartered Accountants. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989 and quickly rose through the ranks to become client manager for the senior partner. This role provided a huge range of experience dealing with small businesses, audits, charities, and management buyouts as well as some more unusual clients.

In 1994 he moved to Devon to become a partner of a small accountancy practice based in Crediton. This practice quickly grew and expanded to an office in Exeter as well as taking on further partners. In 2006 Adrian joined David Kirk and the practice of Kirk Hills was formed.

Adrian sees his key skill as being able to understand owner-managed businesses. His parents operated a business in which Adrian was brought up in. Being a partner in Kirk Hills means that he runs his own business which gives him particular insight into the day to day problems that such businesses face. He also understands how to grow a business and develop its potential. However, what all businesses are interested in is reducing their taxation liability – an area where Adrian has over 30 years experience.

Adrian and his wife Angela have three children, two of whom have now completed university. He enjoys all sports, still playing cricket and golf regularly. He also enjoys travelling and family time, as well as taking an active role as a trustee in a local charity.

Tel: 01392 494904

David qualified in 1990 with a local firm of Chartered Accountants based in Exeter. In 1992 he left that firm and set up his own practice in Queens Terrace, Exeter. Since then, the firm has grown steadily, relocating a couple of times until ending up in 2005 at the current offices in Barnfield Crescent.

David attributes the growth of the firm to the following key points:

We give good commercial advice and help our clients make it happen.
We are very good at saving tax for clients.
We hardly ever lose clients to other firms.
As well as being a Partner of Kirk Hills, David is also Managing Director of Kirks Insolvency, which has offices across the South West. He is also a non-executive Director and co-founder of Lympstone Manor Ltd, a contemporary county house hotel in Lympstone, Devon. He is also a co-founder and director of Exeter Finance Ltd a business providing secured business lending. He is the Finance Director of Exeter Festival of Food and Drink Ltd, a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation that runs a festival in Exeter every year, and is also Chairman of the Lord’s Taverners in Devon and Cornwall, a national charity providing funding for sport for disabled and disadvantaged children.
